A cut canyon wall made into a bud vase.
Two clay bodies — dark and pale — wedged together and thrown on the wheel, the rotation pulling them into a canyon wall. The lines on this vessel are like geological time made visible. Each band a season, a flood, a shift in what the earth was carrying.
The belly is full and grounded, the kind of roundness that speaks to containment. Then the form narrows — slowly at first, then decisively — into a tall, tapered neck that opens just slightly at the rim, the way a canyon mouth opens to sky after a long corridor of stone.
Matte, unglazed, fully raw on the surface. This piece does not reflect light. It absorbs it, the way earth does.
One of a kind. Not repeated.
