The body rises in speckled cream stoneware, smooth and full, the kind of pale that holds warmth without announcing it. Surprisingly smooth to touch. The form is unhurried: wide at the base, tapering slowly upward with the quiet confidence of something that knows where it's going.
The neck disappears under leather — dark, tightly wound, wrapped by hand in close horizontal bands that compress toward the opening. Like clay, leather that has memory in it, that will continue to age and deepen and tell time in its own way long after the clay has finished changing.
This is the detail that makes the piece. Clay is fired and fixed. Leather is still becoming. To put them together is to put permanence next to process. Who we were and who we are becoming.
